ROCK/Review Jeremy Ryan Martin – SMILE and WAVE
This is no run-of-the-mill rock anthem
It is cathartic in the very core of the being with the first notes of the song Smile & Wave by Jeremy Ryan. This is no run-of-the-mill rock anthem though; it is in fact a personal manifesto, a manifesto that is sheathed in a great instrumentation and presented with the raw authenticity that is becoming scarce in the current music scene. The most impressive thing about this Cohutta-hailing artist is that he does not hesitate to be vulnerable and still be so powerful musically. His voice is truly soul-grabbing and it is not heavy-handed and preachy due to the personal experience. It is possible to hear the years of self-doubt and subsequent emancipation in every note, and this song feels like a chat with a friend who has finally discovered the voice. The evolution of the song that was initially an acoustic piece to its present rock version will say a lot about the development of the artistic process of Jeremy. The lively, energetic instrumentation all done by Jeremy himself but with the exception of drums produces all-immersive soundscapes that are ideal in complementing the inspirational message. The guitars especially are quite effective, hammering home the emotional nature of the song as the rhythm section keeps everything in line and on the move. The best thing about Smile & Wave is the balance of the thinking moments and the lightheartedness that the song possesses. The recording, which was done at Jeremy’s own AvezaRock Publishing studio, is a brilliant demonstration on how to bring artistic anarchy to order. Each of the layers is an instrument of the main message of the song the ability to escape the enslaving burden of what other people think of you. It is not just the entertainment kind of music but an empowering music. Jeremy Ryan has created something that is incredibly personal and at the same time universally relatable, and there is no doubt that it has been created through one of our most honest moments of self-reflection. Smile & Wave is a musical and a thematic success. Stay connected with this amazing artist: https://songscope.net/rock-review-jeremy-ryan-smile-wave/

JEREMY RYAN MARTIN "MY FAIRYTALE"
Setting the tone with an emotive, alternative rock soundscape with a super dimensional and intricate guitar performance, Jeremy Ryan opens My Fairytale with his lived experience and introspective, situational prose. We immediately connect with the raw authenticity and the poetic prowess that Jeremy Ryan shares as he sings, “Welcome to this fairytale of mine…”. The guitar solos are exquisite and his descriptive brand of storytelling is nothing short of hypnotic. Speaking on the release, Jeremy confesses, “This song was written at a time in my life when I felt like everything I had worked for was for nothing. I just wasn’t happy and was looking back on all the hard times I had been through growing up and was feeling really down on myself. Memories of the family & friends I’d lost along the way was weighing heavy on my mind. I just felt alone and lost, almost like I was at a crossroads in my life trying to determine which direction I should go in next.” There is a relatable energy that transmutes, making the song perfect for a Hollywood synch deal – perhaps a movie with similar themes to what Jeremy is sharing with his deep lyricism. Jeremy even says, “I was told this song sounded like a song that would be at the end of an action western movie……like if one cowboy on a horse was watching another cowboy ride off into the sunset.” With reference to the backstory of the recording process, we learn that the song originally had an acoustic rock style with a country rock sound but it was suggested that a clean country acoustic guitar in the song would sound better with a more distorted rock sounding guitar. In addition to singing and writing, Jeremy plays all of the instruments, bar the drums, and mixes and masters his own productions through his label, AvezaRock Publishing! We love the high emotional quotient that Jeremy Ryan shares with My Fairytale, and have added the track to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the star’s growing discography including Smile & Wave, and Spinning Wheel, and anticipate future releases! https://karlismyunkle.com/2025/06/23/jeremy-ryan-shares-his-soul-and-lived-experience-with-poignant-and-poetic-new-single-my-fairytale/
MUSIC ARENA ARticle
JEREMY RYAN MARTIN "MY FAIRYTALE"
There’s a strange comfort in calling your personal disaster a fairytale, and Jeremy Ryan’s new single, “My Fairytale,” lives entirely in that conflicted space. This isn’t the storybook of our youth; it’s the grim, dog-eared version one finds in a dusty attic, its moral hopelessly smudged. Ryan sings of a rainbow devoid of its colors, an idea that for a moment made me think of those magnificent old tapestries where the brilliant dyes have surrendered to time, leaving only the ghost of a scene. The song captures that exact feeling: the shape of joy is there, but its essential vibrancy has been drained away. The track is built on a classic rock chassis, but the engine is modern and anxious. The distorted guitar isn’t just backing for the vocal; it’s a character in the drama, a jagged internal monologue arguing with Ryan’s soulful, weary delivery. It’s the sound of a crossroads, not on some dusty Southern highway, but inside the skull, where the “good vs. evil” of our inner child wrestles with the resigned pragmatism of an adult who has seen too much. It feels less like a performance and more like overhearing a difficult conversation someone is having with themself in an empty room. This is a song about the bleak destination we all fear—the one where wishing is no longer a useful exercise. It lingers, not with a catchy hook, but with the quiet weight of its resignation. Ryan has crafted a narrative of accepted desolation, a personal myth where the only ending is the one you’re already in. But is naming your bleak reality a fairytale a form of empowerment, or is it just a more poetic way to surrender? https://www.musicarenagh.com/my-fairytale-jeremy-ryans-song-of-lost-wishes/
